Under this program, the department leases public housing properties to RHL for renting to tenants who need some support to establish and manage a tenancy. The tenancy and the property are transferred back to the department when the tenant is able to manage a longer term tenancy.
What services can you expect with SHDL?
Same House Different Landlord providers offer transitional housing, with support to manage the tenancy. RHL and the tenant will develop a tenancy plan to assist the household to gain skills in managing a longer term tenancy. Once the tenant can manage a longer term tenancy, the tenancy and property are transferred to the Department. This means that the tenant becomes a public housing tenant without needing to move.
To be considered for the Same House Different Landlord Program, it is important to select both ‘public housing’ and ‘community housing’ on your application form to maximise your chances of being housed.
